Harry Brook T20I Captaincy: A big news is coming out amidst the excitement of IPL 2025. In fact, according to the report of Telegraph UK, Harry Brook can be given the command of England’s T20 team. He is at the forefront of the race to become the new T20 captain. Apart from this, Ben Stokes along with Brook is in the race to get the command of the ODI team.
Let us tell you that after the shameful performance of the England team in the Champions Trophy 2025, Jos Buttler left the captaincy of the team in the limited overs format. Since then, the news of Harry Brook being made the captain of the T20 team started coming to the fore.
Right-handed batsman Brook is currently a key member of the England team in all three formats. He was also the vice-captain of the team during Butler’s tenure. However, his performance on the India tour earlier this year was not good and Brook could not make an impact in the Champions Trophy as well. After this, Brook showed his commitment to England and withdrew his name from the tournament despite being sold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

It seems almost certain that the ECB will make Brook its T20 captain ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup in India. However, it will be interesting to see who among Brook and Stokes gets the command of the ODI team. Both the players seem ready to take up this responsibility. But if Brook is made the leader of the ODI and T20 team, it will put more responsibility and pressure on him in all three formats.
Before handing over the captaincy to Stokes, the ECB will have to consider his fitness. He is currently recovering from a hamstring injury. He has to participate in important Test series against India and Australia this year. Stokes’ performance in both these series will mean a lot to the team and his career.
