The official schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be announced on Sunday, February 16. As previously reported, the 18th edition of the tournament is set to begin on March 22, with the opening match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.
IPL 2025 will feature 10 teams competing for the prestigious title: Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals.
Kolkata Knight Riders will enter the season as defending champions, having claimed the IPL 2024 title with an impressive eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final held in Chennai.
The IPL 2025 mega auction was historic, with teams investing record amounts to bolster their squads. Rishabh Pant made history as the most expensive player, securing a INR 27 crore deal with Lucknow Super Giants, while Shreyas Iyer followed closely with a INR 26.75 crore move to Punjab Kings.
Mumbai Indians are expected to be a team to watch, retaining their strong Indian core while adding key overseas players like Trent Boult and Will Jacks. The official broadcasters, Star Sports Network, confirmed the schedule announcement through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter).
