<\/figure>\n\n\n\nEngland has named its playing XI for the opening ODI against the West Indies, which will also mark a new chapter in English white-ball cricket.<\/a> Harry Brook, recently appointed as the full-time white-ball captain, will lead the side for the first time in this format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The three-match ODI series kicks off on Thursday, May 29, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The second and third matches are scheduled for June 1 and June 3 in Cardiff and London, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ben Duckett retains his place at the top of the order, but he will have a new partner this time. Jamie Smith has been promoted to open the innings for the first time in his ODI career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Joe Root will bat at No. 3, followed by skipper Harry Brook at No. 4. The lineup also features IPL returnees Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, and Will Jacks.
