ODI cricket took a backseat, with the year primarily dominated by T20Is in the first half and Test cricket in the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a handful of Test matches in January, the spotlight shifted to T20Is, culminating in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 held in the West Indies and the USA in June. After the World Cup, teams turned their focus to the longest format, ramping up preparations for the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Test cricket<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/e2bangladesh.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/01\/foreign-player-limit\/\">Joe Root enjoyed another outstanding year in Test cricket, finishing as the top run-scorer in 2024 with 1,556 runs at an average of 55, including six centuries<\/a>. Yashasvi Jaiswal closely trailed Root with 1,478 runs at an average of 54.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Jaiswal, England&#8217;s Ben Duckett and Harry Brook accumulated 1,149 and 1,100 runs, respectively. He was closely followed by Zimbabwe\u2019s Brian Bennett with 632 runs, while Sri Lanka&#8217;s Kusal Mendis (628) and Pathum Nissanka (622) also featured prominently.
