In the first Test at Headingley, India opted for just one spinner, selecting veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ahead of other options. However, Jadeja struggled to make a significant impact and faced criticism for not utilizing the rough effectively on Day 5, as India failed to defend a target of 371 runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jadeja\u2019s recent numbers highlight his struggles: in his last four Tests\u2014including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour in Australia and the first Test against England<\/a>\u2014he has taken only five wickets in 110 overs, with a costly average of 78, a strike rate of 132, and an economy rate of 3.54.
