IND vs WI: Shubman Gill becomes only the second Indian captain after Virat Kohli to score five Test centuries in a calendar year

Shubman Gill notched his 10th Test century during the second Test against the West Indies. Indian captain Shubman Gill stole the spotlight with a brilliant batting display on Day 2 of the second Test between India and the West Indies on Saturday, October 11, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The right-hander reached his 10th Test hundred, cementing his crucial role in India’s innings.

Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal resumed India’s batting on Day 2 after a strong performance on the opening day. Jaiswal looked set for a double century but fell victim to an unfortunate run-out in the first session, finishing with 175 runs. Gill then shouldered the responsibility and carried India forward, reaching his century in the second session.

He forged significant partnerships, adding 91 runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) and 102 runs with Dhruv Jurel (44). India declared their first innings at 518, with Gill unbeaten on 129 off 196 balls, including 16 boundaries and two sixes.
