Injury Updates on Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma After Thrilling Win

India bowling coach Morne Morkel provided updates on Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma following India’s Super Over victory against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s. Speaking at Dubai International Stadium, Morkel confirmed Abhishek is doing fine, while Hardik will be assessed on Saturday.
Both players struggled with cramps during India’s bowling innings. Hardik Pandya, seen holding his left hamstring, walked off after taking Kusal Mendis’ wicket for a first-ball duck and did not return. Abhishek also showed discomfort in the ninth over, leaving the field in the 10th over. Both were treated with icing and pickle juice to ease cramps. Morkel noted, “So both of them struggled with cramps during the game. Hardik, we’ll see tonight and tomorrow morning and make a call. Abhishek is fine.”
‘No training ahead of Asia Cup final’

India bowling coach Morne Morkel confirmed there will be no team training on Saturday, September 27, ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan. Following the thrilling Super Over win against Sri Lanka, the management prioritizes player rest and recovery.
“The key for the boys is to rest. They’re in an ice bath already. Recovery started straight after the match. The best way to recover is to sleep and stay off your feet,” Morkel said. Individual pool sessions and massages will be arranged to prepare players mentally for the big clash on Sunday. “It’s a quick turnaround, and playing smart is going to be the key. There will certainly be no training,” he added.
