Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are currently in sixth place on the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed on Saturday, May 17, featuring the 58th match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Unfortunately, heavy rain forced the match to be abandoned without a result.
As a result, both RCB and KKR received one point each. With this point, Rajat Paditar-led RCB climbed to the top of the points table with 17 points, pushing Gujarat Titans (GT) to second place. RCB have won eight matches and lost three in their 12 games so far and have two more matches left in the league stage.
KKR Knocked Out of IPL 2025 Playoffs Contention

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by Ajinkya Rahane in IPL 2025, have been officially eliminated from the race for the playoffs. Their hopes ended after their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was abandoned due to rain. KKR currently hold the sixth position on the points table with 12 points, having played 13 matches, securing five wins, suffering six losses, and seeing two games end without a result.
With just one game left in their IPL 2025 campaign, KKR will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Even with a victory in this final clash, they can only accumulate 14 points a total insufficient to break into the top four of the standings.
As things stand, the top four teams in the table all have at least 14 points, making it mathematically impossible for KKR to overtake them. This marks a disappointing outcome for the defending champions, who claimed their third IPL title last season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
KKR are now the fourth team to be eliminated from the playoffs race, joining Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in exiting the tournament early.
