Ryan Rickelton’s dismissal in the IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad was overturned due to an error by wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen. In the 7th over of the MI innings, Rickelton was initially caught by Pat Cummins off Zeeshan Ansari’s bowling. However, the third umpire intervened after noticing that Klaasen’s gloves were positioned in front of the stumps when the ball was bowled. According to MCC rule 27.3, the wicket-keeper must remain fully behind the stumps from the moment the ball is in play until it touches the batter or passes the stumps. Klaasen’s violation of this rule resulted in the delivery being deemed a no-ball, allowing Rickelton to continue his innings.
Mumbai Indians Cruise to Victory Over Sunrisers Hyderabad
Mumbai Indians continued their strong run in the Indian Premier League with a comprehensive four-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided match on a challenging wicket at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Led by Will Jacks, who starred with both bat and ball, MI recorded their second consecutive win. Jacks contributed a solid 36 runs off 26 balls, including three fours and three sixes. He also made a significant impact with the ball, claiming two wickets for just 14 runs in three overs, showcasing his all-round skills.
The home side capitalized on their sharp assessment of the tricky pitch, adapting quickly to the conditions. MI’s bowlers, particularly their fast bowlers, executed the plan of using short and slower balls effectively while nailing yorkers throughout the first innings. Their control in the middle overs put pressure on SRH, limiting them to a manageable total.
Chasing 163 on a pitch with grip and turn, MI was aided by SRH’s reluctance to bring on spin during the powerplay, allowing the home team to capitalize on boundary-scoring opportunities. MI reached 166/6 in 18.1 overs, clinching their third win of the season.
Although Rohit Sharma once again fell short after a bright start, contributing 26 runs off 16 balls with three sixes, he helped set the momentum for MI. The chase was then supported by fluent knocks from Ryan Rickelton (31 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed 26 runs off 15 balls with two sixes and as many fours.
Captain Hardik Pandya’s quickfire cameo of 21 runs off just 9 balls gave MI the necessary push to close in on victory. In the final stages, Tilak Varma remained calm, scoring an unbeaten 21 to seal the deal and ensure MI’s triumph.
