Matt Henry won top honours New Zealand Cricket Awards: New Zealand Cricket announced its annual award on Wednesday, 9 April, in which many great players became winners. During this, fast bowler Matt Henry managed to win the biggest award in the men’s category and was given the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal. Henry’s performance was tremendous last year and due to this he was not only chosen as the Cricketer of the Year, but he also succeeded in becoming Test and ODI Cricketer of the Year.

Matt Henry’s New Zealand Cricket Award was a hit

Matt Henry played an important role in New Zealand’s historic Test series win in India. Henry took 8 wickets in the very first match of the series played in Bengaluru and contributed to his team’s great start. The right-arm fast bowler took 25 wickets in a total of five Test matches at an average of 20.08. Apart from this, Henry took 24 wickets in ODIs at an average of 15.50. He made an important contribution in taking his team to the final of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Jacob Duffy and Kane Williamson also got awards

30-year-old fast bowler Jacob Duffy was named T20 Cricketer of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards. Duffy took 21 wickets at an economy rate of 9.71 and due to this performance also became the number 1 bowler in the ICC T20 rankings. Apart from this, veteran batsman Kane Williamson won the Redpath Cup for men’s first-class batting.

Amelia Kerr also made a splash

Star all-rounder Amelia Kerr also made a splash at the awards. She won the biggest award in the female category and won the Debbie Hockley Medal as Women’s Cricketer of the Year. Kerr has won this medal for the third consecutive year. Kerr played an important role in New Zealand’s Women’s T20 World Cup win last year.

She took the highest 15 wickets in the tournament and also scored 135 runs. Kerr also won the Women’s ODI and T20 Cricketer of the Year awards. In ODIs, she scored runs at an average of 33 and also took 14 wickets. Under her captaincy, Amelia led Wellington Blaze to the title and also won the Women’s Super Smash of the Year award for scoring 441 runs and taking 15 wickets.
