Washington Sundar was not pleased with a question posed during the pre-match press conference ahead of Gujarat Titans’ clash with Rajasthan Royals.
Washington Sundar Responds to Pre-Match Question with Displeasure

Ahead of Gujarat Titans’ IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals, all-rounder Washington Sundar found himself in an uncomfortable situation during the pre-match press conference. A reporter began by referencing a comment allegedly made by a commentator, stating that Sundar had only played two IPL games last season and 14 international matches. The reporter pointed out that Sundar had to wait for the fourth game to get a chance in the current season, implying that Sundar himself had mentioned the limited game time.
Washington Sundar, who had been calm throughout the press conference, seemed visibly annoyed by the question. He quickly interrupted, asking, “What is the question?” When the reporter clarified that the comment was attributed to a commentator and not Sundar himself, the 24-year-old cricketer fired back, asking, “I said that? When did I say that? Did you hear me say that?”
After the confusion was cleared up, Sundar regained his composure and explained his stance. He emphasized his preparedness for any opportunity that came his way, noting how he has been working hard with the team, particularly under the guidance of the Titans’ coach. Sundar acknowledged the importance of consistent practice and was confident that whenever an opportunity arose, he would be ready to seize it.
Sundar prolific with the bat

When the opportunity finally arrived for Washington Sundar, he made the most of it in Gujarat Titans’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad last week. Stepping in at No. 4, Sundar played a composed and authoritative knock of 49 runs off 29 balls. His partnership with captain Shubman Gill, which yielded 90 runs, formed the backbone of Gujarat’s successful chase of 153, which was completed with 20 balls remaining and seven wickets in hand.
Despite his impactful batting performance, Sundar did not bowl in the match, leading to speculation about whether he will be used exclusively as a batter during IPL 2025. His all-round abilities had previously been an asset to the Titans, but his role in this game seemed to be focused entirely on his batting. This development raised questions about his place in the team, especially given that Gujarat Titans have a strong bowling line-up.
