As Soon As WPL 2025 Started, RCB Got A Big Setback, Star Spinner May Be Out Of The Entire Tournament

RCB: Shreyanka Patil was injured some time ago.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a major setback as soon as WPL 2025 started. Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 due to injury. Sources quoted by India Today said that all-rounder Sneh Rana has joined the RCB camp and has been with them for the last three to four days.

Shreyanka appeared in a video posted by RCB ahead of the tournament, but she did not play in the match against Ashley Gardner’s Gujarat Giants (GG) at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday, February 14, raising questions about her participation in the tournament. Later, the 22-year-old Shreyanka put up a post on social media, in which she explained that everything was not well with her.

Shreyanka Patil Won The Purple Cap In WPL 2024

Shreyanka won the Purple Cap in the previous edition of the WPL, she also took four wickets in the final against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. But she could not play some matches due to a finger injury. She also suffered an injury during the match against Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup, after which she could not play some matches of the tournament.

ODI World Cup Scheduled Later This Year

Shreyanka returned to play in the Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but did not play in India’s home matches against Ireland and West Indies. With the ODI World Cup scheduled later this year, Shreyanka will now want to be fit before that tournament at all costs.

Meanwhile, amid all this, RCB is grappling with injury concerns. Their spin attack has been weakened with Sophie Molineux, Asha Shobhana , and Shreyanka ruled out due to injury. Kate Cross and 2024 World Cup-winning New Zealand captain Sophie Devine also missed out.
