Dubai: Ashwin questioned too many spinners in Team India: The team selected by India for the Champions Trophy includes five spinners. Initially, the team announced by India had four spin options. However, Varun Chakraborty was included in the final team and Yashasvi Jaiswal was dropped for this.
Now the team has five spin options. The Indian team is going to play all its matches in Dubai. Now former Indian veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also raised questions about keeping too many spinners in the team.

Speaking in a video on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said that he does not understand why the Indian team is taking five spinners for the Champions Trophy. He also says that to bring Varun Chakraborty into the playing XI, India will have to compromise with their fast bowling.

Ashwin said I do not understand why we are going to Dubai with so many spinners. We dropped Yashasvi Jaiswal to include five spinners. I understand that we take three or four spinners on tours, but five spinners in Dubai? I don’t know. I feel that our team has at least one extra spinner if not two.
Bumrah Was Also Included In The Initial Team
Jasprit Bumrah was also included in the initial team announced for the Champions Trophy, but even then India had only three options in fast bowling. After Bumrah was dropped, Harshit Rana was included in the team and the fast bowling options remained the same.
