Joe Root enjoyed another outstanding year in Test cricket, finishing as the top run-scorer in 2024 with 1,556 runs at an average of 55, including six centuries. Yashasvi Jaiswal closely trailed Root with 1,478 runs at an average of 54.
Following Jaiswal, England’s Ben Duckett and Harry Brook accumulated 1,149 and 1,100 runs, respectively. Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis made a sensational impact, averaging 74 across nine Tests, amassing 1,049 runs, and scoring five centuries.
