Jaker Ali’s Blistering Fifty Lifts Bangladesh to 189-7
Bangladesh batter Jaker Ali delivered a stunning unbeaten 41-ball 72, guiding the Tigers to 189-7 in the final T20I of the series against the West Indies at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, on Friday.
Jaker smashed six sixes and three fours, forging a crucial 50-run partnership with Tanzim Sakib to rescue Bangladesh’s innings. At one point, the Tigers seemed destined for a mediocre total after a strong start by opener Parvez Emon, who scored a quick-fire 21-ball 39, featuring four boundaries and two sixes.
Emon, filling in for the injured Soumya Sarkar, fell on the final ball of the Powerplay, which ended with Bangladesh at 54-2. However, the middle order faltered, reducing the team to 102-4 after 13 overs. Jaker, who initially struggled with 18 runs off 19 balls by the 15th over, turned the tide. He unleashed an explosive finish, smashing eight boundaries in the final five overs, including three sixes in the last over, as Bangladesh added 75 runs in the death overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed a steady 23-ball 29 but failed to accelerate, while Liton Das (14 off 13) and Tanzid Tamim (9 off 9) fell cheaply.
For the West Indies, pacer Romario Shepherd claimed two wickets, while Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Roston Chase chipped in with one wicket each.
Scoring Rate Dips as Wickets Tumble for Bangladesh
Emon, who stepped in for the injured Soumya Sarker, made a rapid 39 off just 21 balls, including four fours and two sixes. His explosive knock helped Bangladesh reach 54-2 after the first six overs, before he was dismissed at deep fine leg in the final delivery of the Powerplay.
After Emon’s departure, the scoring rate slowed significantly. Tanzid Tamim managed just nine runs off 9 balls, while Mehedi Hasan Miraz faced 23 balls for his 29 runs before being dismissed.
Jaker Ali, on 8 off 11 balls, was joined by in-form Shamim Hossain at the crease.
Emon Gives Bangladesh a Strong Start
Bangladesh’s opener Parvez Hossain Emon provided a solid foundation in the Powerplay with a blistering 39 off 21 balls, taking the Tigers to 54-2 in the first six overs of the third T20I against the West Indies at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, on Friday.
Emon, filling in for the injured Soumya Sarker, hit four boundaries and two sixes before being caught at deep fine leg in the final ball of the Powerplay.
At the other end, Bangladesh captain Liton Das’s difficult tour continued, as he was dismissed for just 14 runs off 13 balls in the fifth over, giving West Indies pacer Romario Shepherd his first wicket.
With Emon gone, Tanzid Tamim and Mehedi Hasan Miraz took the crease, looking to rebuild after the early wickets.
