Two Changes Have Been Made
Two changes have been made in the preliminary team announced by India for the Champions Trophy. Harshit Rana has been brought in place of Bumrah. The team has made this change under compulsion. However, the second change has been made deliberately. Opener batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was included in the Champions Trophy team, but when the team was finalized, Varun Chakraborty was brought in his place. Jaiswal is now part of the reserve and will go to Dubai only if required.

To prepare Harshit and Chakraborty for the Champions Trophy, the team management made them debut in the ODI series against England. While Harshit played all three matches of the series, Chakraborty got a chance to play in two matches. This clearly shows that the Indian team was already working on Plan B.
